The venue was the impressive Faculty of Law of Charles University, located directly on the Vltava River, with its neoclassical architecture and breathtaking paternoster lifts. The conference was attended by around 800 academics with research interests in EU law. An exciting and dynamic conference! Thank you for the great organisation!
I gave a presentation on the topic ‘The Fundamental Rights Agency as Actor of Legal Change and its Role in the EU’s Legislative Process’ on the panel ‘Actors of Legal Change in Europe’. The focus was on the question of what role the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights plays as an extrajudicial fundamental rights monitoring institution in the legislative process and to what extent (and in what way) it contributes to the observance of fundamental rights standards.
