On 29 January 2025, I completed my habilitation at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and was granted the Venia Legendi in the fields of Public Law, European and International Law, International Economic Law, and Comparative Law.
My habilitation lecture was titled: “Who Should Bear the Costs of Public Security? On the Legality of user fees for policing services.” It was a particular pleasure to share this special occasion with my esteemed colleague Romy Klimke, who also completed her habilitation on the same day.
My heartfelt thanks go to my habilitation supervisor, Professor Christian Tietje, and to the entire Faculty of Law and Economics at MLU. Over the years, the University of Halle has been a place where I have always felt very much at home – both academically and personally.
